Training Policies & Terms of Service

TERMS OF SERVICE:

  • All courses, programs, and services offered by Shiny Side Up Motorcycle Training are subject to the Terms of Service provided below.

  • The service is provided under the condition that the student accepts the Terms of Service in their entirety and without any alterations or modifications.

  • The Terms of Service are non-negotiable.

 

LESSON PRICES & TIMING:

n.b. Payment is required to confirm date(s) and time(s), in the case of non payment when another client is requesting the exact same date(s) and time, the original client will be notified that immediate payment is required to secure their training.

  • MST Price $280

  • MST: In the 150 minute (2 1/2 hr.) parking lot session there will be a twenty minute explanation & demonstration at the beginning with a minimum of one hundred & thirty minutes of riding.

  • Road Test Prep Price(s) $225 without motorcycle, $300 with motorcycle

  • Road Test Prep: In the 90 minute road session there will be a minimum of eighty minutes spent riding with a ten minute debrief at the end.

  • Road Test Prep: In the 60 minute Mock Road test there will be a minimum of fifty minutes riding with a ten minute debrief at the end.

  • Road Refresher / Advanced Skills Price $135

  • Road Refresher / Advanced Skills: In the 90 minute road session there will be a minimum of eighty minutes spent riding with a ten minute debrief at the end.

 

GENERAL:

  • Students must disclose any medical conditions, use of drugs, or medications that may impact their ability to operate a motor vehicle. This information is essential for instructors to guarantee the safety of the student and others during the training.

  • Before starting any practical training, the student is required to sign a Waiver of Liability. This document delineates the acknowledgment of risks and releases The Shiny Side Up Motorcycle Training from specific legal liabilities.

  • In the event that the student is under the age of 19, a parent or legal guardian must sign the Waiver of Liability on behalf of the student. This ensures that a responsible party acknowledges and consents to the terms on behalf of the minor.

  • Tuition fees are subject to change without notice.

TRAINING + CANCELLATION POLICY​

  • Full payment of all course fees is mandatory at the time of registration. Reservation or confirmation of a course space cannot be secured without complete payment.

  • Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the course start date are fully refundable.

  • Cancellations made between 7 and 30 days prior to the course start date are refundable at 50% of the course fee.

  • Cancellations made 7 days or less prior to the course date will not be refunded.

  • Inclement weather (rain)  is not a valid reason for a cancellation but every attempt will be made to reschedule classes if at all possible based upon existing bookings.

  • Changes to bookings made more than 30 days prior to the course start date may be made free of charge.

  • Changes to bookings made between 7 and 30 days prior to the course start date are subject to a $50 administration fee.

  • Changes to bookings made 7 days or less prior to the course date are subject to a $100 administration fee.

  • All participants must have acquired a valid class 6 or 8 learner’s license from ICBC before commencing any training with The Shiny Side Up Motorcycle Training. Students are required to present their learner’s license at the beginning of each class and must carry it throughout the training period.

  • If client documentation (course application & liability release) is not filled in by student (or guardian in the case of a minor) and returned to The Shiny Side Up Motorcycle Training on or before the training, then the lesson / course  will be deemed a 'no show' and no refund or credit for another training /  course will be given,

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT REQUIRED DURING TRAINING

  • For the street with a legal full-face motorcycle helmet, students have the option to either bring their own or utilize one supplied by The Shiny Side Up Motorcycle Training.

  • For motorcycle gloves, students have the choice of either bringing their own pair or using the gloves provided by The Shiny Side Up Motorcycle Training.

  • During road sessions, The Shiny Side Up Motorcycle Training will also supply reflective safety vests.

 

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT (not included)

  • While not included, it is recommended for students to have their own motorcycle jacket.

  • Long trousers are required, shorts are not acceptable.

  • Regular shoes are prohibited. Students may wear hiking boots with ankle coverage or their personal motorcycle boots.

ARRIVING UNPREPARED

  • The Shiny Side Up Motorcycle Training retains the right to refuse any clothing or safety gear deemed unsafe or inappropriate.
